Organisational justice occurs when employees consider the actions and procedures within their workplace to be fair and equitable. The evidence in a policing context is limited. We therefore examine the role of organisational justice in five police constabularies, with a specific focus on investigators of Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO). We share insights into Operation Soteria, the findings of which have led to the introduction of the new RASSO National Operating Model for all forces in England and Wales. Policing appears to prioritise measurement outcomes and processes rather than investment in officer learning, development and wellbeing. The lack of support in the workplace for investigators reflects in the procedural justice offered to victim-survivors, with negative implications suggesting a loss of public confidence and trust. We make recommendations to enable transformational change in RASSO investigations, requiring an organisational shift and reframing the current transactional offer for RASSO investigators.
