This chapter begins by tracing the emergence and articulation of sexual harassment (SH) as a form of gender-based violence (GBV), the prevalence and distribution of victimisation and explores the range of social and epistemic harms associated with experiencing SH. We then critically examine the literature on the theoretical development, emergence and application of bystander approaches across different spatial and social contexts, specifically focusing on higher education (HE), night‑time economy (NTE) and digital spaces. In addition to the promising evidence regarding attitudinal and behavioural change, we argue that increasing investment in bystander approaches as part of a system‑wide response to the continuum of GBV could contribute to tempering the social and epistemic injustices associated with everyday experiences of SH and safekeeping
