Abstract

This chapter examines how current legal and welfare structures in the UK lead to gendered necropolitical effects for migrant women victim‑survivors of intimate partner violence.

The authors explore the dynamics and embodied impacts of intimate border violence (Lopes Heimer, 2023a), connecting state to partner abuse.

More specifically, we elucidate how ‘no
recourse to public funds’ (NRPF) and police, statutory and voluntary sector data‑sharing policies work as everyday bordering technologies preventing migrant victim‑survivors from accessing life‑saving support and the criminal justice system.
