Abstract

Research Art Lab: a case study, was selected and presented at the Paradox Conference: Connecting + Collaborating + Co-Creating as part of the Interdependent Landscape programme at the Paradox European Fine Art Forum 2026, Dublin: 30 March – 1 April 2026.

The case study presentation outlines and explores collaboration and connection on multiple levels: with a particular landscape and the natural world, with a group of artists, with a non-governmental organization - their staff and volunteers, and with the public. This generated dialogue and connections between the residency artists and visitors, staff, and volunteers, around crucial issues such as the environment and climate change, the use of experimentation and critical thinking in creative problem solving, and the potentials of interrelating art, technologies and heritage.

The conference took place at National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin. This 10th Paradox Forum brought together artists, educators, and researchers for three days of talks, workshops, and collaborative discussions. The programme addressed art’s role in civic life, ecological thinking, mental health, community-building, and pedagogy. Participants and audience members came from a range of institutions across Europe and North America. www.paradoxfineartforum.com
