Abstract
This essay reviews Elsa James' first solo exhibition, 'Othered in a region that has been historically othered', shown at Focal Point Gallery in Southend. It especially focuses on the three-part film (which has the same title as the exhibition) and discusses its chronopolitics in relation to black experience.
