Abstract

Jane Watt. was one of three artists from the UK (along with Mireille Ribiere and Caroline Wright) to take part in international exchange exhibition Aller-Retour, part of a five-year exchange programme involving 12 EU countries exhibiting in Le Havre France and their home nation. My work included a series of 5 photographic images of views from windows that act as apertures through which we can scan the horizon and look east. A text-sound installation charting the shipping forecast for coastal waters from Felixstowe to Le Havre accompanied the photographic images. As visitors move around the exhibition, they trigger bi-lingual excerpts that chart the coastal weather of a journey from Suffolk to Normandy by sea.
