Abstract

Exhibitions themed around environmental cataclysm understandably tend towards grandiosity, as if such artistic gestures are the only possible response to ecological ‘hyperobjects’. But these strategies can occasionally become overpowering to the extent of threatening to be as paralysing as the situation they confront, resulting in defaulting the potentiality of our individual responsibilities. Without sacrificing comprehension of the global scope of the problem, ‘Tip of the Iceberg’ focuses attention on local solutions in various ways.
